Our roots

— THE RELAIS

Our roots.

The past remains. Our story begins.

There is a place, at 560 meters above sea level,
where silence is not the absence of noise,
but a superior form of listening.

Every place has a story.

Perugia Vecchia has several, layered over two thousand years of Umbrian memory. What we tell is not yearning, it is roots.

It was born on the same peaks that two thousand years ago were the stage for the fires of an ancient battle.

It has always been a place where refugees of a distant era sought shelter and peace; today, on that land, stands a place that is not just a destination, but a return to a lost dimension.

The luxury of invisibility

To cross the borders of Perugia Vecchia means leaving the superfluous behind.

For us, privacy is a sacred value, protected by the same nature that once defended the ancient inhabitants.

It is the privilege of being invisible, surrounded only by the majesty of the Umbrian profiles standing out on the horizon.

About our structure

From the ashes of destroyed Perugia — which gave its name to nearby Deruta (from the Latin word diruta, destroyed city) — this outpost of peace was born.

The dry stone walls that still surround the mountain top, the black-glazed pottery found in the excavations, the cisterns carved into the rock to collect rainwater:

everything tells of a place that knew how to welcome those seeking protection and silence.

Perugia Vecchia has never been a place of transit.
It has always been a place to stay.

Perugia Vecchia, Umbria.
